El amor del chocolate by Anthony (5-410)

Cocoa beans used to make chocolate

The Creation of Lego by Roberth (5-411)

Hey there boys and girls!

Do you know what Lego is? Legos are colored blocks shaped to build creations of your own. They were invented in 1949 in Denmark by Mr. Christiansen who grew up poor and became a carpenter. Today he is famous as the founder of Lego. Back then Lego was a little different than they are now. I started building Lego when I was 4 years old. My Mom keeps all of my Lego creations in a closet. The most popular Lego when I started playing with it was Star Wars. I have loved Star Wars ever since I first saw it. Now they make other themes but the first theme was Lego City. It's popular to this day.

If you want to buy Lego the best and cheapest place is Target. There you can find all the Lego - new and old!

i-Pad Please!! by Rayne (5-410)

Do you think i-Pads are awesome? An i-Pad is an electronic tablet made by Apple. They're fun to play with and you can download anything you want to. Right? I want an i-Pad 3 because there's an app that you can download which can help you with your homework. If you get stuck on an answer it helps you. I would also download the weather channel. I want an i-Pad because I don't anything exciting to do at home other than watch television. Believe me, that's super boring! Having an i-Pad would be a dream come true for me. I'm crazy about the i-Pad 3. I want one so badly! It's never too late to get one.

I'm going to tell Santa to bring me. i-Pads are entertaining, useful and educational. It's the device that all kids want. Many like the touch screen. I basically want an i-Pad because it's the most interesting thing I've ever seen. Whether it's the i-Pad 1, 2 or 3...I recommend that you get one. You will never be bored again.

There are numerous places to visit like a beautiful resort that I love and you will too. It's called Barcelo Resort. It has numerous slides, pools and beaches. At night the temperature of the water gets cold and in the morning it gets warmer. The resort has different restaurants where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner.

A delicious Dominican breakfast!
Do you know what you can eat in the Dominican Republic? People eat mashed plantains, salami, eggs and fried white cheese and onions for breakfast. Mangu, salami, huevos, queso frito y cebolla in Spanish. This is also called 'tres golpes' in Spanish which means three hits. Some people like hot chocolate and bread for breakfast. For lunch, many eat rice and beans, chicken, avocado and egg plant.

Do you like to shop? You should go to 'Salced Marcori.' That is where you can shop for clothes or go to eat. There is a cake shop, an ice cream shop and many good restaurants like La Parilla Latina. There is a supermarket that doesn't sell a lot of expensive food. Chicken is 90 pounds which is only $6 dollars.

Are you here in the United States? Well get your passports, get on a plane and come right to the beautiful Dominican Republic. It's a delightful place to visit!

Glee Club by Georgina (5-410)

Do you know about the Glee Club? It's an after school program at P.S. 46. The two teachers are Ms. Woods and Mr. Kamer. We meet in the auditorium every Monday and Friday. Many students from different grades attended the audition to get in to Glee Club. There were 5 teachers who were judges. It was important to sing loudly and clearly. Many students were nervous because there were so many people in the audience. About 30 students were accepted.

In Glee Club we sing holiday music. December is Christmas time so we are practicing mostly Christmas songs. There are slow songs and upbeat ones like 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and 'Jingle Bell Rock.' In Glee Club we practice singing these songs and dancing too. You need to remember your moves before we perform at the assembly that we have in our school.

It's important to memorize all the words to the songs and many times the rhythm. If you can't remember the words, take the lyrics home and practice. Ms. Woods and Mr. Kamer always remind us to drink water because we sing a lot. They have strict rules like if you miss Glee Club twice with no excuse you are out. If you love Glee Club, I agree with all of you. I'm looking forward to performing for you!

Helping Endangered Animals - Fernando (5-410)

Would you like to help endangered animals?

Aren't they adorable?
A polluted lake in Europe.

Pandas, tigers, polar bears, bald headed eagles are all in danger of extinction. There is one I'd like to help...the platypus. It is like a beaver and a duck. It has duck feet, a duck bill and a beaver body and tail. The platypus used to be an endangered species which means it was almost extinct. To help the platypus survive you could stop throwing garbage in rivers, lakes and oceans. Factories should stop polluting the air because many animals fly and fish live in rivers and lakes. Polluted water affects fish and birds could get sick from air pollution. People should also stop hunting animals. Platypus became endangered because they were wanted for their fur. If people respect their environment animals will have a chance to survive.

Justin Bieber by Michelle (5-410)

Hey girls and boys!
Do you like Justin Bieber's music? I like all of his songs. If you heard his music you would like him too. His best song in my opinion is his version of 'All I want for Christmas is you.' I like that song because it's beautiful and it's about your life. When you're bored and you don't know what to do, listen to that song and you will feel relaxed.
I recommend Justin Bieber's music because he is an entertaining artists with a great voice. He is so talented. Some people think that he can't sing but I think he sings beautifully. I love Justin's songs. There are so many such as Boyfriend, Baby, As Long As You Love Me, etc. If you have already heard these songs, he will be releasing more music soon.

The reason I like Justin Bieber is because of the way he dresses and the way he sings. When I listen to his music I feel joyful. When you hear Justin's songs (if you haven't already) you will say this girl is correct!

The Amazing Tony Hawk by Isaac (4/5-513)

Tony Hawk showing his skills.
When I was in second grade I discovered an amazing skateboarder called Tony Hawk.  I told my Mom to buy me a skateboard and I practiced at Poe park. I learned different tricks. Now I'm in fifth grade and I still have the same skateboard. It's blue with a skeleton on it. I wear arm pads when I skate.

Tony Hawk was born on May 12, 1968. His nickname is the Birdman. Tony Hawk's full name is Anthony Frank Hawk. He is an American professional skateboarder and actor. He is pretty tall at 6 feet 3 inches. He weighs 170 lbs.

On July 27, 1999 Birdman was the first skater to successfully do a trick with two and a half mid air revolutions on a skateboard. Tony hawk was successful on his eleventh attempt.

In 1988 Tony Hawk and others started a tour across the country featuring freestyle motocross, skateboarding and BMX. It started in Las Vegas, Nevada and traveled to 31 cities around the United States. They even visited Six Flags amusement parks. Tony hawk married Erin Lee in 1996.

Skateboarding is a little dangerous if you don't wear a helmet but people should try skateboarding because it's great fun!
